London is just around the corner

This slogan was used in a advertisement by Eurostar. Last week it won the Mixx Award in Brussels. Mixx stands for the Marketing and Interactive Excellence Award. This award is given to ad campaigns that focus on the use of digital media and the interaction with the public. The advertising agency behind this particular advertisement is called Agency.com and they received the award in the category Brand Awareness/Positioning. There were also a number of other categories, such as Product Launch and Use of Interactive Media. The jury consists of marketers, publishers, media agencies, creative agencies and advertisers. There is just one catch to the price Eurostar has won. One of the members of the jury works for Eurostar, so he or she might be a bit prejudiced. What do you think?  Wouldn’t this award have more meaning if the jury consisted of people who have nothing to do with the company? Now, only one member works for Eurostar, but he or she can have a great influence when it comes to voting.

  1. You have a clear writing style, but I do think you have taken the rule ‘write short sentences’ a bit too far. Using a relative clause (which, that) every now and then may make your text a bit more fluent.

I like the fact that you have tried to be critical about this topic. I do feel that a picture of an ad sporting this slogan would have added something extra to this post. I would have added a white space right before you start the critical assessment (there is just one catch…)
